Neighborhood Watch members
The following information is for residents who have joined the Neighborhood Watch. Joining is as easy as following the sign up instructions. If you haven't yet joined the Neighborhood Watch please take a moment to do so today.
Finding your Block Captain
When you joined the Neighborhood Watch you should have received a confirmation that included the contact information for your Block Captain. If needed, contact the Neighborhood Watch Committee to find out who your Block Captain is. Be sure to include your name, street address, and telephone number in the request.
When to call your Block Captain
If you have an emergency, contact the police first. If this emergency is such that it concerns your neighbors, like a break-in or a stolen bicycle for example, then call your Block Captain next. If your Block Captain is not available, go down the Block Captain backup list until you contact a Block Captain (If you don't have a copy of the Block Captain backup list, please contact your Block Captain to get one, then print it out and keep it by your phone). The Block Captain that you contact will then initiate the calling tree.
The calling tree is an automated service which will call as many numbers as you have registered and will keep calling until it reaches either a person or an answering machine to leave a message. This automated process eliminates problems with Block Captains not being available and makes the entire process much quicker.
When not to call your Block Captain
Do not involve the Neighborhood Watch if you have having a problem that does not concern the safety or protection of personal property within the neighborhood. For example, do NOT involve the Neighborhood Watch if you are have having a problem with a loud neighbor, or a neighbor whose pet is bothering you, or a neighbor who is not mowing their grass, etc...
