Neighborhood Watch
The Neighborhood Watch is an organization made up of volunteer Audubon Park residents with the purpose to maintain the safety of our neighborhood as well as to protect the personal property of the residents. The Neighborhood Watch is based on information sharing, and is not a substitute for the police.
How we are organized
Audubon Park has been broken down into about 15 blocks (or sets of houses). Each of these blocks has a Block Captain. Your Block Captain will be the person you go to in the event of an emergency or a security concern (after you've called the police!). In the event of an emergency, your Block Captain will initiate a calling tree by which the word of your emergency will be spread across the neighborhood. Also, they will be passing non-emergency information between you and the rest of the neighborhood. In addition to the Block Captains, there will be a number of Area Captains. In the event of an emergency, the Area Captains will ensure that each and every NW member gets a call. Further, they will act to organize the program and to be a liaison between the NW and the Durham Police Department.
Getting involved
Every Audubon Park resident should take the time to join the Neighborhood Watch phone tree. The process is easy and can be done right from this web site. Please take a moment to sign up for the Neighborhood Watch and help keep our community safe. After you've signed up, read on to learn how to keep in touch with other Neighborhood Watch Members and Block Captains.
